A person operating a motorcycle in British Columbia generally has the same rights and duties as a driver of a vehicle.
Laws particular to motorcycle drivers in British Columbia include the following:
A person must not ride on the handle bar or frame of a motorcycle or in front of the person driving or operating it.
A person must not drive or operate a motorcycle on a highway unless seated in the driver's seat of the motorcycle.
A person operating a motorcycle must ride astride the regular seat attached to it.
Except when overtaking other motorcycles an operator of a motorcycle must not operate side by side in the same direction in the same traffic lane.
