Negligent elderly care

Seniors are particularly vulnerable members of society. To minimise abuse, there is widespread legislation surrounding the care of elderly people.
Assisted living facilities, for example, must register with the assisted living registrar. These facilities must then operate in a way that does not endanger the health and safety of its residents.
If care is only provided to one or two persons, a license is not needed. Otherwise, a facility will be in breach of the rules.
If a care provider does not adhere to the relevant legislation, causing an elderly person to suffer harm, it could amount to negligence.
